The Basic Hatchet is an axe that can be purchased for $12 Money from Wood R Us. It is currently the cheapest axe in the game and serves as the first and only axe affordable to players who are just starting the game. The tutorial forces players to buy the axe in order to progress. It is one of the five axes that can always be bought from Wood R Us.
Design[]
The handle of the Basic Hatchet is dull, brown, and has a dark yellow strap near its base. Its box is colored yellow, similar to the plank form of Snowglow Wood or the boxed Wobblebobble, and has the image of the axe on its largest sides.

The Basic Hatchet can be found in Wood R Us on the shelf closest to the counter, requiring only $12 Money to purchase it.
Quality[]
The Basic Hatchet, with the exception of the Candy Cane Axe (which currently does not deal damage to any wood type), is the weakest axe in the game in terms of damage, range and damage per second. With this in mind, it is recommended that new players prioritize upgrading to a Plain or Steel axe as quickly as possible before progressing further through the game.
