Cavecrawler Wood, commonly referred to as Blue Wood, is a wood type that grows exclusively in the Cavecrawler Cavern within the Maze. It was added during the January Mega Update.

Cavecrawler Wood is typically used for filling blueprints, selling at the Wood Dropoff, and trading with other players due to its difficulty to obtain.

Characteristics

Cavecrawler Wood grows larger and extends further than most other wood types in the game and can occasionally grow outside the Cavern walls, revealing branches next to the Maze Ledge.

Unlike other wood types, Cavecrawler Wood has no grain due to it having the Neon material. Its glow effect hides the joints and edges of the wood when on high graphics settings, making it difficult to see where you are chopping.

Many fully developed Cavecrawler logs cannot fit in any sawmills that are smaller than the Sawmax 02 due to their thickness without chopping the log into smaller pieces or by directly placing the log inside of the sawmill and pressing B while attempting to move the sawmill.

This tree has the longest growth time of all wood types in the game, taking over 5 hours to fully grow. Because of this, witnessing one dying without player interference is very rare.

Harvesting

Cavecrawler Wood is moderately difficult to chop so it is recommended to use the Cave Axe if the player possesses one, due to its far superior damage on Cavecrawler Wood in comparison to other axes. Otherwise, a Rukiryaxe or The Many Axe is recommended. A Sawmax 01's input hole usually satisfies most of the wood's branches, however, a Sawmax 02 is recommended for milling its trunk.

Obtaining Cavecrawler Wood is quite costly and time-consuming as the player must take the Ferry across the Ocean, costing $400 Money each way, and find the correct route to the Cavern, which changes every four days. As the wood is considered heavy, larger logs can disable a truck from going up steep inclines.

Getting the wood back to the Main Biome is a little easier, as using the hole within The Maze teleports players, loose items, and wood to the Safari Hole.
