Planks are the higher tier of Wood, created by processing Logs. They can be sold at the Wood Dropoff for approximately eight times the amount of Money that the logs would sell for (this is based on data found in VPS experiments, a series of tests that took place in late 2015 to determine wood prices, further experiments are encouraged).

Planks are created by running logs through a Sawmill, removing their outer bark. The wood is also reshaped to the size defined by the set Plank Cross Section on the side of the sawmill. This can be changed to any size the player desires, so long as that size can fit through the unloading hole at the back of the sawmill.

One of the main uses for planks is in filling blueprints, with which structures on the player's base can be constructed. Each blueprint has its own cost in units of wood planks and once the correct amount of wood has been added to the blueprint, a solid structure with the same color and material as the majority wood plank type used (in terms of units provided) for the blueprint is created.

Remilling[]

Planks can be run through a Sawmill as many times as the player wants and will be reshaped without loss to conform to the sawmill's Plank Cross Section setting. However, as with logs, the sawmill cannot process planks exceeding 10.9 units in length (with the exception of the Sawmax 02L, which can process up to 18.9 units), if reshaping a plank results in a plank longer than this, the conversion is irreversible without first chopping the plank into multiple, shorter planks.
